A Hotel with a rich history

It all started as a little tavern in Tweng owned by the Priors of Salzburg.  In 1549 they allowed Eustacius Meislinger to invest his assets into building an inn with stables for the horses, and then in 1552 the cathedral of Salzburg specifically demanded a "radical transformation of the tavern Weng!"

About 1764 a post office was established on the site in Tweng, and by 1872 the post office was open daily in summer and at least three times a week during winter. The post officer Genser equipped the inn with 70 beds. Even electric lights were installed. On the other side of the road, but still belonging to the hotel, a little bowling centre and billiard room offered the inn guests a little bit of amusement during their stay.  Noblemen were able to stay in their own "Graf Salon" during their hunting trips.

Since then, many owners have had the good fortunes of the post in their hands and since December 2004 we have been happy to welcome you to the Landhotel Postgut!
